This tropical looking plant is low maintenance & produces striking flowers on long stems.  Strelitzia reginae gets its common name (Bird of Paradise) because the incredible flowers resemble the crest of a tropical bird. Growing to 1.5m high x 1m wide, Stelitzia reginae prefers a sunny position with well drained soil.

Happy with lots of water it is also considered drought tolerant and performs well in coastal conditions. This versatile plant will make a welcomed addition to any garden, but in particular will provide stunning colour to a Tropical or Balinese Garden Design. Leaves showcase an orange/red vein which in itself is very decorative. Flowers & leaves can be cut for display inside in a vase or left on the plant to enjoy for many weeks. Spent flowers should be cut from the plant to trigger additional flowers.
